| In Texas Hold em poker, players receive two down cards on the first deal (called hole cards). After the deal, there is a round of betting. Three board cards are turned at the same time (the “flop”) and another round of betting takes place. The next two board cards are turned one at a time, separated by a round of betting after each card. The board cards are community cards, and a player may use any five-card combination from among the board and personal cards. A player may even use all of the board cards and no personal cards at all to form a hand (called “playing the board”). This is a fairly common Texas Hold em poker strategy. The usual method is to use two blinds, but it is possible to play the game with only one blind, multiple blinds, an ante, or combination of blinds and an ante. |
